Sunday 6th October Club AGM has been re-arranged and will be held on Sunday 6th October at 2pm. Saturday 28th September : Closing Day Closing day is scheduled for 12:00, on the green for 12:30. Saturday 21st September Great competition yesterday with fantastic matches taking place, weather really made a good day for bowling. Well done to Tommy Thompson / Linda Coburn who were winners on the day, with Tom Ross / Andy Gillon as runners up. Sunday 8th September: Handicap Final: Sandy Jenkins won against Gordon Blackwood (21-18) in an excellent match of bowls in which both players would have been deserved winners. Senior Championship: Tom Sloan won against Sandy Jenkins (21 - 15) in another high standard and competitive match. Saturday 7th September. Pairs: Gordon Blackwood / Sandy Jenkins won against Tom Sloan/ Kevin Monaghan in the first game of the finals weekend. Presidents: Brian Gaffney won against Sandy Jenkins (21-18) in a closely fought game. Gents Championship: Tom Sloan won against Gordon Blackwood (21-15) to become this year’s club champion and concluded the day of matches, with another cracking game for the members watching and supporting. Monday 3rd September. Semi-finals: Presidents Prize Sandy Jenkins won against Tommy Thompson. Senior Championship Tom Sloan won against Willie Paul. EGM Sunday 2nd September 2pm. Letter sent to members. Monday 26th August Promiscus last points game with overall winner Tommy Thompson, (37 points), 2nd Ann Baillie, (24 points), 3rd Joe Hands, (22 points). Once again the few had good fun. All were presented, after the game with prize, cakes and good company, which the majority of the members chose to ignore as they did all season!!!! Anyone have a Defibrillator? Friday 23rd August Semi-final with 6 pm start. Championship: T Sloan 21-17 J McMahon Handicap: A Gillon 17-21 G Blackwood, B Gaffney 13-21 S Jenkins Friday 16th August Lanarkshire League: Away to Dazell 6-0 Holytown. Due to green flooding the game was stopped and counted for score at 11 ends. Tuesday 13th August Senior League: Final game Away to Overton cancelled as they could not get a team. Finished with 20 points from 14 games. Friday 9th August Lanarkshire League: Holytown 1-5 Law. Another heavy defeat. Wednesday 7th August Burgh Championship Top Ten: Uddingston 8-0 Holytown. An expected result but everybody tried their best. Tuesday 6th August Senior League: Holytown 11-9 Motherwell Miners (2). Good fightback from John Lennox, Tom Ross, Sandy Jenkins as they were 3-7 down after 7 ends. Friday 2nd August Lanarkshire League: Low waters 3-3 Holytown. Wednesday 31st July Burgh Championship Top Ten: Away to Motherwell Miners was not played due to waterlogged green. Holytown went through on toss of a coin. Sunday 28th July Lanarkshire League Top Ten: Away to Houldsworth 8-0 Holytown. Houldsworth put out their strong team and won very easily. Wednesday 17th July Senior League: Newmains 20-4 Holytown. No luck today but the team played better than the score suggests. Sunday 14th July Burgh Championship final at Wishaw BC.: Senior Singles, Tom Sloan Holytown 14-21 Houldsworth. Wednesday 10th July Lanarkshire League: Holytown 4-2 Colville Park. Hard fought points tonight with it looking as if Holytown would only get two points, but with Sandy Jenkins Rink rallying in the closing ends seen us with 2 wins. Tuesday 9th July. Senior League: Team of Tom Ross, Tommy Thompson, Sandy Jenkins Holytown 20-9 Carluke (2). Monday 8th July. Senior League Senior Singles Competition: Tommy Thompson Holytown 21-7 Houldsworth. Tommy played really well and made some excellent recovery bowls to win in such a manner. Friday 5th July Lanarkshire League: Uddingston 6-0 Holytown. The best performance was Gordon Blackwood team, who lost in the last end. Wednesday 3rd July Burgh Championship semi-final at Motherwell BC.: Senior Singles, Tom Sloan won against Dalzell. Triples, Joe Hands, Tommy Thompson, Sandy Jenkins lost to Overton. The Final is at Wishaw BC on 14th July 2pm start. Tuesday 2nd July Senior League: Shotts B.C. 8-12 Holytown. John Lennox, Sandy Jenkins, Tom Sloan. Friday 28th June Lanarkshire League: Holytown 5-1 Carluke. Strong performances from everyone tonight. Gordon Blackwood's fours fought hard all the way and came back from 7 shots down to earn a well deserved draw. The fours skipped by Sandy Jenkins and Brian Gaffney had commanding wins from the start and never eased up with both winning by +20 shots. Wednesday 26th June Burgh Championship: Senior Singles played in the afternoon and won against Bellshill & Mossend. Triples also won. Singles and Fours both lost. Holytown hosted Pairs and Fours. Senior League: Ian Wightman, Tom Ross & Tommy Thompson, Holytown 15-6 Wishaw. Friday 21st June Lanarkshire League: Gartcosh 4-2 Holytown. Brian Gaffney rink won. Gordon Blackwood rink and Sandy Jenkins rink came close after both were 12 shots down to drawing but losing it on the last end. Thursday 20th June Lanarkshire Ladies BA triples: Anne Baillie, Jean Thompson and Nan Jenkins lost at Mount Vernon. Lanarkshire BA Top Six at Holytown 2-4 Victoria Coatbridge. Wednesday 19th June Burgh Championship: Singles, Senior Singles, triples and fours all won. Pairs lost. Holytown hosted Triples and Fours. Senior League: Holytown's John Jeffrey, Tommy Thompson and Sandy Jenkins won 12-10 away to Castlehill 1. Saturday 15th June Gents Balloted pairs went to semi final stage and seen Gordon Blackwood/ Sandy Jenkins win against Brian Gaffney / Gary Cochrane and Tom Sloan/ Kevin Monaghan win against Tommy Thompson/ Joe Hands. Thursday 30th May Lanarkshire Ladies BA three bowl pairs: Anne Baiile and Nan Jenkins won at Mt Vernon and play at Houldsworth in the next game. Lanarkshire BA Junior Singles Competition, District Final, where Gary Cochrane won against Airdrie Central at Hamilton B.C. and now proceeds to Semi Final at Garrowhill on Tuesday 18th June. Wednesday 29th May Bowls Scotland Senior Gents Singles Sandy Jenkins 21-15 Clarkston at Gartsherrie. Senior League at Home, John Jeffrey, Tommy Thompson and Tom Sloan won 25-5 Newarthill. Monday May 70th Promiscus was rained off. Sunday 26th May Mixed pairs: Holytown's Gordon Blackwood/Ann Baillie lost out on last bowl against Victoria Coatbridge. Brian Gaffney/ Nan Jenkins had W/O as Gartsherrie did not appear. Saturday 25th May Bowls Scotland Ladies Junior Singles: Holytown's Amy Jenkins 20-21 Bellshill & Mossend. May 1st Senior League opening game with a two shot victory from the team of I. Wightman, T. Thompson and S. Jenkins against Law. Good start in closely fought game. April 29th Promiscus: Enjoyable evening with the winners tonight Gary Cochrane and Nan Jenkins. April 26th E.G.M. There will be an E.G.M at 630 to discuss a letter from the council legal department which may have significant impact on the club. All available members should attend. April 13th 2p.m. Opening Day. There has been great work done, prior to opening day, on the Bowling club surrounds, changing room and clubhouse by a FEW dedicated members who want to give something back! This Author gives them a GREAT BIG THANKS. You can see from the photos above the difference to the surrounds. Excellent day with good turnout of over 80% of the members. March 28th. Open from 2 -3 pm February 28th: Grass cut with 5 boxes of grass removed, blade set at 9mm, verticut set at 1mm. Sat 23rd 2 boxes removed, blade at 9mm verticut set at 4mm. January Thursday 17th: Scott Ferguson funeral is at 9:30, Holytown Crematorium. He died on 6th after long battle with illness. Holytown BC offer their condolences to his family. Scott was a good member who only stopped bowling because of his illness. |
